Sports Pharmacy
Whole-of-Health Pharmaceutical Care for Active People
Most athletes and active people never see a pharmacist as part of their care team — not because they don’t need one, but because until now, access to one simply didn’t exist in settings like this.
Geelong Sports Medicine Centre is one of the only sports medicine facilities in regional Australia to offer a dedicated sports pharmacy service. Working directly alongside our sports doctors, physiotherapists, and allied health team, Emily Shears provides specialist pharmaceutical care that looks at the whole picture — your medications, your supplements, your surgical journey, and your health conditions — in the full context of your rehab, training or performance goals.
What We Offer
Emily supports clients across a wide range of clinical needs, including:
What to Expect
A sports pharmacy consultation at GSMC is a clinical conversation — thorough, practical, and tailored to you. Emily will review your complete medication and supplement profile, ask about your training, your sport, and any upcoming procedures, and work through your individual needs with care and precision.
Your consultation may cover:
Emily works as part of GSMC’s fully integrated multidisciplinary team. That means your pharmacist, your physio, and your doctor are all communicating — so your care is coordinated, your risks are managed.
No referral is required to see Emily. Sports pharmacy consultations are available by appointment.
Supplement Safety — Know What You’re Taking
The supplement industry in Australia is largely unregulated. A 2025 Sport Integrity Australia survey found that 35% of tested supplement products contained one or more WADA prohibited substances — and 57% of those contaminated products did not list the prohibited ingredient on the label or website.
Emily uses two authoritative Australian frameworks to assess every supplement including the AIS ABCD Framework and HASTA Certification — The Australian Batch-Testing Standard
Important: WADA and Sport Integrity Australia do not certify or endorse any supplement products. HASTA certification is the recognised Australian standard for independent testing.
