Concussion clinic
Concussion, Vestibular & Neuro Physiotherapy
At Geelong Sports Medicine Centre, we provide evidence-based, multidisciplinary care for clients experiencing concussion symptoms, vestibular disorders, and neurological conditions.
In partnership with Concussion Central, this service is led by two of the region’s most experienced clinicians in the field — founder Megan Hamilton and Drew McInnes — whose combined expertise supports both complex rehabilitation and practical return-to-life outcomes.
What We Offer
We support clients across a wide range of presentations, including:
What to Expect
We understand the complexity of neurological and post-concussion recovery. Our assessments are detailed, our care plans are tailored, and our goal is to return you to full function — whether that’s work, school, sport, or simply daily life.
Treatment may include:
Concussion Day 1: What to Do
- Stay with someone for at least 24 hours.
- Seek emergency care if symptoms worsen (vomiting, severe headache, increasing drowsiness).
- Stay awake for 4–6 hours after injury, then rest at your usual bedtime.
- Have someone check in regularly overnight — they don’t need to wake you unless concerned.
- Avoid alcohol and don’t drive.
- Total rest — no screens, socialising, or physical exertion.
- After 24–48 hours, you may start gentle activity that doesn’t worsen symptoms.
- Return to work/school gradually.
- Get advice from a trained concussion professional.
- Medical clearance is required before contact training or match play.
